Photography & Videography
Having had a dream to express myself through moving pictures for I don’t know how many years, I finally set up my YouTube channel and posted my first video in 2017. Since then, I have developed my own slow and observant style of film making, and posted close to 200 videos on my channel.
After having documented my own life for quite some time I am now more drawn to tell the stories of others. My goal is make more and longer videos and films, that deal with cultural identity and societal change from a slightly nostalgic perspective. In August we are setting out on a road trip through China, where I will create my first short documentary series focusing on traditional handicraft and knowledge and how they may fit into a modern world.
I have had an interest for photography since 2007, when I bought my first camera (a Nikon d40). I was happy experimenting with angles and composition, but didn’t get interested in the technicalities and the editing process until much later. In 2021 I shot my first photos in RAW and bought myself Lightroom. I am now continuously learning and improving my skills in both photography and videography through online learning and lots and lots of practice.
I sometimes find it hard specify why traditional handicraft, traditional dishes & cooking methods as well as traditional knowledge are important to preserve. The biggest reason for me, is that the thought of this being lost, saddens and pains me. On a very deep level. When tradition and traditional knowhow get lost - so does parts of history, of identity. It makes the world a less colourful place.
In my filmmaking and in my photography, I want to document and preserve, while also looking forward. I want to explore the contrasts between the traditional and the modern. Explore the affects modernity has on tradition and culture.
I love listening to the life stories of the people next to me - to their experiences, struggles, and dream. We, who are here now, make the history of our children and grandchildren. And it is all worth documenting.
My Mission
China
Archives

Coming soon...
Rural China is making huge leaps in modernisation. Lifestyles and lived experiences changes drastically from one generation to the next. The China Archives is my passion project where I document life as it is now. A way to make sure that this part of history and heritage is not forgotten.
The China Archives is a visual digital archive, with photos & videos documenting today’s China - farming, cooking, lifestyle, tradition, holidays, culture & handicraft. The idea of this archive has sprung through my experiences in rural China and my conversations with the people I meet.
The China Archives will be its own website. Keep an eye open here, on my social media channels, or sign up for my newsletter to know when it goes public.
My newsletter is a personal monthly reflection on the month that has passed, or on some other topic I think about at the moment of writing. It is also a monthly summary of my social media - you get a list of the videos, photos and blog posts that I have posted, all in one small notice. When travelling through China, I sometimes can’t help purchasing items that carry a story. The newsletter will also be the place where I arrange for giveways, something that will happen a few times per year.
Gear
Since 2016, I have been shooting with Sony cameras. The journey went from a6000 to a5100 to a6400, to what I’m using now: the ZV1 and a7siii. The Sony ZV1 I use for vlogging and every day photography – I love that it fits in any pocket or small bag of mine. My Sony A7siii is my big baby and the one who takes on all my serious missions.
